Tom Deegan joins Brunswick Group as a Partner in Hong Kong

Brunswick Group, the strategic advisory firm focused on critical issues, today announced that Tom Deegan will join as a Partner based in Hong Kong on January 4, 2021.

Tom brings over three decades of cross-border M&A experience across a broad range of sectors, most notably in energy and infrastructure. He served as the General Counsel of the Public Investment Fund, the Sovereign Wealth Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Prior to that, he was a Senior Partner and led the M&A and Energy & Infrastructure practices in the Asia Pacific region for Sidley Austin LLP, before which he was a Partner at Simmons & Simmons LLP and at Denton Wilde Sapte. At Brunswick, Tom will strengthen the firm’s M&A capabilities in Asia and bring his international legal and regulatory expertise to bear for clients globally.

About Tom Deegan

Until September 2018, Tom was the General Counsel for the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the Sovereign Wealth Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Prior to that, he was a Senior Partner with Sidley Austin LLP, based in Hong Kong. He was head of the firm’s M&A and Energy & Infrastructure practices in the Asia Pacific region. Before Sidley Austin, Tom was a Partner with Simmons & Simmons LLP, based in Hong Kong and, before that, a Partner with Denton Wilde Sapte, based in Hong Kong and Dubai.

Tom has spent almost 18 years in the Asia Pacific region. He has a strong focus on emerging markets and has experience of advising in almost every jurisdiction in the region. His clients have included financial institutions (including private equity and hedge funds), multinational corporations, state-owned enterprises, trading houses, family offices and sovereign wealth funds. Tom is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales as well as in Hong Kong.  Since 2003 he has been listed as a “Leading Individual” in independent legal directories, including Asia Pacific Legal 500, Chambers Asia Pacific, The Expert’s Guides to the World’s Leading Lawyers, Who’s Who Legal, M&A Ability and IFLR.
