David Wei joins Brunswick Group as a Partner

Brunswick adds senior climate and sustainability expert to ESG & Sustainable Business team in New York.

June 10, 2024 – Brunswick Group, the world’s leading critical issues advisory firm, announces that David Wei will join the firm as a Partner, based in New York, on June 17, 2024.

David joins after a decade at Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), where he was most recently Managing Director, Climate and Nature. In this role, David worked with companies to implement credible environmental goals and programs, manage climate and nature risks, and develop collaborations to build a net-zero economy. Previously, David served the Marshall Islands and Alliance of Small Island States as a climate diplomat in the Paris Agreement negotiations. He is an international lawyer, having advised governments on international environmental treaty implementation, after working as a securities litigator with Fried Frank in New York and a commercial litigator with Cassels in Toronto.

David will be a senior member of Brunswick’s global Climate Hub, which is part of the firm’s ESG & Sustainable Business team, advising clients in the United States and globally on critical issues related to the energy transition, corporate climate strategies, and building a nature positive future.

About David Wei

David built up the climate and nature practices at Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), where he was most recently Managing Director, Climate and Nature. David led global teams advising clients on how to implement environmental strategies, conduct climate scenario analyses and manage climate and nature risks.

Previously, David was a climate diplomat for the Marshall Islands with the advisory group Independent Diplomat and led on emissions reductions and transparency in the UN climate negotiations. As an international lawyer with the Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development, David helped governments across the globe implement international environmental treaties. He began his career as a securities litigator with Fried Frank in New York and a commercial litigator with Cassels in Toronto, before focusing on climate change.

David holds a LLM in International Law from New York University, a JD and MA in International Relations from the University of Toronto, and a BA in Ethics, Politics, and Economics from Yale University.
