Zhu Ning joins Brunswick Group as a Senior Partner and Head of China

Brunswick enhances senior management and advisory capability in China.

September 1, 2022 – Brunswick Group, the world’s leading critical issues advisory firm, today announced that Zhu Ning has joined the firm as a Senior Partner and Head of China. He is based in the Beijing office, where he will oversee the further development of the firm’s China team and provide counsel to both Chinese and international clients on a range of critical issues.

Ning is a renowned expert on China’s economy and financial markets. He has advised government agencies, market regulators, stock and futures exchanges and some of the largest companies globally. He joins Brunswick from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where he was Professor of Finance and Deputy Dean at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, and Yale University, where he was Faculty Fellow for the International Center of Finance. Earlier in his career, he was Head of Equity Quantitative Strategies, APAC at Lehman Brothers and Head of Portfolio Advisory at Nomura.

Ning will work closely with Mei Yan, Senior Partner and Chair of China, colleagues across China, Asia-Pacific and the world to strengthen further Brunswick’s capabilities in China.

About Zhu Ning

Zhu Ning joins Brunswick from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where he was Professor of Finance and Deputy Dean at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, and Yale University, where he was a Faculty Fellow for the International Centre for Finance. Previously, he was the Oceanwide Professor of Finance and Deputy Director at the National Institute of Financial Research at Tsinghua University and a tenured Professor of Finance at the University of California. Earlier in his career, he was Head of Equity Quantitative Strategies, APAC at Lehman Brothers and Head of Portfolio Advisory at Nomura.  

Ning is the author of award-winning “China’s Guaranteed Bubble” and “The Investor’s Enemy.” He received a PhD in Finance from Yale University, a Masters in Management from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Economics in International Finance from Peking University.
