Issi Saumtally joins Brunswick Group as a Partner and Chief Data Officer

He will lead Brunswick’s efforts to harness data in aid of client advisory.

July 4, 2022 – Brunswick Group, the world’s leading critical issues advisory firm, today announced that Issi Saumtally has joined the firm as a Partner and Chief Data Officer. He is based in the London Office.

Issi is a highly experienced leader in data and analytics. Most recently, he was Chief Data Officer of the UK government’s Cabinet Office, where he was responsible for establishing the department’s new data practice and defining its data strategy. Previously, Issi was Interim Head of Data Strategy and Solution at Three, Head of Architecture at RSA and an Enterprise Data Architect at HSBC. He has also held senior data roles at Barclays, RBS Group, Capgemini, Deutsche Bank and UBS.   

As Brunswick’s first Chief Data Officer, Issi will lead our growing data and analytics capabilities, enhancing the firm’s efforts to harness data and state-of-the-art technologies to identify, track and understand critical issues in the context of clients, at scale.

About Issi Saumtally

Most recently, Issi was Chief Data Officer of the UK government’s Cabinet Office, where he was responsible for establishing the department’s new data practice and defining its data strategy. There, he was instrumental in implementing consistent data sharing practices across government departments, including helping to ensure clinically vulnerable people were fed during the height of the COVID-19 crisis.

Prior to that, Issi was Interim Head of Data Strategy and Solution at Three. He has led various large data projects across the retail and investment banking sector, developing data strategies, policies, processes and procedures, while also leading data architectural alignment across business functions. He spent three years at RSA as Head of Architecture and Head of Data Design and has held senior roles at Barclays, Capgemini, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, RBS Group and UBS.

Issi received a BSc in Information Systems and Business Administration with Management Science from the Leicester De Montfort University. He is also recognized as a Data Champion within the DataIQ Top100 most influential people for his work in the Cabinet Office.
