Errol Cockfield and Andrew Williams join Brunswick Group as Partners in New York

Brunswick further strengthens its capabilities in the TMT and Financial Institutions sectors with appointment of two deeply experienced Partners.

Brunswick Group, the world’s leading critical issues firm, today announced that Errol Cockfield and Andrew Williams will join as Partners in the New York office in November.

A seasoned strategic communications expert, Errol brings almost three decades of media relations and crisis management expertise to Brunswick. He will advise clients in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) sector on a range of complex societal issues, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Environmental, Social and Governance matters. Most recently, Errol was SVP, Communications at MSNBC, where he was responsible for setting the organization’s communications and media strategy. Earlier in his career, he served in various government roles, including as Press Secretary for the New York Governor’s office.

Andrew joins Brunswick’s global Financial Institutions team and will advise clients on a breadth of industry issues, financial situations and regulatory matters. A highly experienced financial communications professional, Andrew brings extensive expertise from his career in both government and the banking sector. Most recently, he was Managing Director of Corporate Communications at Goldman Sachs. During the financial crisis, Andrew held roles in the U.S. Treasury as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as Vice President, Public Affairs.

About Errol Cockfield

Errol brings almost three decades of strategic communications, public relations and crisis management experience across the public and private sector. Most recently, he was SVP, Communications at MSNBC, where he was responsible for setting the organization’s communications and media strategy. Prior to that, he was SVP, New York Corporate and Public Affairs within Edelman’s global crisis and reputation risk management practice, advising multinationals on a range of issues. Errol has also served in various government roles, including as Press Secretary to former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer and his successor, David Paterson. He was Chief of Staff and Communications Director to the Democratic leader of the New York State Senate and led communications for the state’s chief economic development agency. Errol began his career as a journalist at the Los Angeles Times, the Hartford Courant and later, Newsday, where he was Statehouse Bureau Chief. 

Errol received a B.A. in English and Journalism from Stony Brook University. 

About Andrew Williams
Andrew brings extensive financial situations, regulatory and media relations expertise from his career across both government and the banking sector, most recently as Managing Director of Corporate Communications at Goldman Sachs, where he led communications for the firm’s digital consumer bank, Marcus. Before that, he was Director of Media Relations at General Electric, where he built the organization’s Media Relations Center of Excellence and directed the media response following the Fukushima nuclear disaster. During the financial crisis, Andrew held roles in the U.S. Treasury as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as Vice President, Public Affairs. He began his career as a financial journalist, as Treasury Reporter for BridgeNews and Washington Reporter for Japanese newspaper, Yomiuri Shimbun.

Andrew received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
