The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has released their latest findings as part of their Sixth Assessment Report, providing the scientific consensus on climate change. Much as the IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report informed discussion leading to the Paris Agreement, we expect this report to influence high-level discussion at COP26. Furthermore, we expect these findings to provide further impetus for stakeholders to advocate for urgent climate action.

Coinciding with Earth Day, President Biden will convene heads of state for his virtual Leaders’ Climate Summit next Thursday, April 22nd and Friday, April 23rd. In the days leading up to the event, the Biden Administration will release its Nationally Determined Contribution (“NDC”) under the Paris Agreement, which will provide updated emissions reduction targets for the United States.

Phil is a partner in Brunswick’s Business & Society practice, and advises clients on how to articulate their company’s future growth story and their role in a net zero world. He is a special advisor to the UN High Level Champion for COP26 and to the UN Race to Zero campaign.
Maria is the Head of Brunswick’s New York office and has extensive background advising on climate issues, including crisis and issues management, engagement strategies, ESG and reporting and has particular expertise in how multilateral organizations, campaigners and policy makers approach climate action.
Brian advises Brunswick clients on robust climate strategies, having spent more than a decade focusing on the energy transition. He joined Brunswick from the energy-focused investment firm Riverstone Holdings where he was responsible for power and renewables strategy. Previously, Brian was a lead analyst with Bloomberg New Energy Finance and M&A analyst at Citigroup.
Stacey advises clients on sustainability, ESG, stakeholder engagement and positioning for senior executives. Based in Hong Kong, Stacey leads Brunswick’s Business & Society work for the Asia Pacific region. Prior to Brunswick, Stacey worked at the World Economic Forum and World Bank.
Alastair is a Partner in Brunswick’s Business & Society practice, where he advises clients on social narrative development, designing corporate signature programs and helping companies to engage proactively on challenging societal issues. He works for clients in sectors as diverse as mining, healthcare, communications, retail, financial services and energy.
Pru advises clients on robust corporate governance practices and emerging issues in responsible investing. Pru joined Brunswick from BlackRock, where she was Managing Director and Head of Investment Stewardship for the APAC region. At BlackRock, Pru led a team that responsible for engagement and proxy voting activities in relation to the companies in which BlackRock invests on behalf of clients.
