Cheryl Heinonen joins Brunswick Group as a Partner in San Francisco

Brunswick enhances its global Consumer Industries capabilities.

Brunswick Group, the world’s leading critical issues advisory firm, today announced that Cheryl Heinonen has joined as a Partner in the San Francisco office.

Cheryl is a highly experienced corporate affairs professional with deep expertise across financial communications, government affairs, issues management, media relations and community engagement. She joins Brunswick having served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications at Macy’s, Inc., where she was responsible for the company’s overall communications strategy, corporate responsibility, social impact work and diversity-related initiatives. Cheryl was previously Senior Vice President, Corporate Relations and Chief Communications Officer at Avon Products, Inc. and Senior Vice President and Head of Global Stakeholder Communications at Visa Inc.

At Brunswick, Cheryl will further strengthen the firm’s Consumer Industries capabilities, bringing her exceptional industry experience to bear for clients globally.

About Cheryl Heinonen

Most recently, Cheryl was Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications at Macy’s, Inc. She was a member of the senior leadership team and helped lead the organization’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prior to that, Cheryl was Senior Vice President, Corporate Relations and Chief Communications Officer at Avon Products, Inc., where she also served as President of the Avon Foundation for Women. There, she was responsible for global external, organizational and stakeholder communications, issues management as well as corporate philanthropy and sustainability programmes. Earlier in her career, Cheryl held various communications roles at Visa Inc., including Senior Vice President and Head of Global Stakeholder Communications, before joining Burson-Marsteller, where she was a Managing Director and led the firm’s West Coast corporate practice.

Cheryl is a National Board Member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and a lifelong advocate on women’s and children’s health and economic issues. She received a BA in Political Science from Bryn Mawr College.
