David will work closely with Daisuke Tsuchiya, Head of Japan, to further strengthen the expanding global Japan business
November 30, 2022 – Brunswick Group, the world’s leading critical issues advisory firm, today announced that David Ashton has been appointed Head of the Tokyo Office, effective immediately.
David will work closely with colleagues including Daisuke Tsuchiya, Head of Japan; Ken Shibusawa, Senior Advisor; Tereza Kaneta, Partner; and a wider team of Japan experts in Tokyo and around the world to strengthen further Brunswick’s capabilities in Japan.
Brunswick has advised clients in Japan for more than a decade. Since opening the Tokyo Office in 2020, the team has grown in size and capability, advising both Japanese companies and international clients with operations in Japan on their most critical financial, regulatory and political and social issues.

About David Ashton
David joined Brunswick’s Hong Kong office in 2011, where he led the firm’s Insight practice group across Asia-Pacific. He relocated to the Tokyo Office in 2020 and has advised clients on a broad range of issues including crisis, M&A, cyber, activism, corporate reputation and corporate governance. He also leads the firm’s Financial Institutions sector team in Asia-Pacific. Before joining Brunswick, David worked in political polling in the UK with Populus (now Yonder Consulting) and BritainThinks.
