Andrea Gomes da Silva and Mitch Bainwol join Brunswick Group as Senior Advisors

Brunswick adds two deeply experienced Senior Advisors to its global Regulatory and Public Affairs team.

Brunswick Group, the world’s leading critical issues advisory firm, today announced that Andrea Gomes da Silva and Mitch Bainwol will join the firm as Senior Advisors on May 16 and June 1, 2022, respectively.

Andrea Gomes da Silva is a deeply experienced competition practitioner, who was previously Executive Director, Markets and Mergers at the Competition and Markets Authority, the UK’s competition regulator. In that role, Andrea was responsible for handling national and international merger and public interest matters, market investigations and broader policy developments, working with a range of stakeholders across government and other regulatory agencies. She was also a member of the CMA’s Board. At Brunswick, Andrea will work with the firm’s London and Lisbon teams and will help clients globally navigate complex antitrust, competition and regulatory issues.

Mitch Bainwol has extensive expertise across public affairs, communications and crisis. Most recently, he was Chief Government Relations Officer at Ford Motor Company, leading a global team responsible for shaping policy and legislation to promote the company’s business objectives. Prior to this, he was President and CEO of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers and Chairman and CEO of the Recording Industry Association of America. Previously, Mitch held a variety of senior positions in government and politics, including as Chief of Staff to the Senate Majority Leader and the Republican National Committee, and Executive Director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. At Brunswick, Mitch will be based in Washington, D.C. and will provide senior counsel to clients on a range of public affairs and policy issues.

About Andrea Gomes da Silva

Andrea joins Brunswick, having previously been at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) where, most recently, she was Executive Director, Markets and Mergers, responsible for handling national and international merger and public interest matters and broader policy developments, working with a range of stakeholders across government and other regulatory agencies. She also served as the CMA’s Senior Legal Director, Mergers, Markets and Regulatory Appeals.

Previously, Andrea was an Antitrust Partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London, during which time she was involved in setting up the CMA. She began her career as an Associate at Slaughter and May.

Andrea received a BA in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford and a Masters in Latin American Studies from the University of London.

 About Mitch Bainwol

Mitch was Chief Government Relations Officer at Ford Motor Company, where he was also a Company Officer. In this role, he led a global team responsible for shaping policy and legislation to promote the company’s business objectives. Prior to this, he was President and CEO of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers and Chairman and CEO of the Recording Industry Association of America.

Previously, Mitch held a variety of senior positions in government and politics. He was Executive Director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and served as Chief of Staff to the Republican National Committee, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and Senator Connie Mack, for whom he also served as Campaign Manager. He began his career at the U.S. Office of Management and Budget as a Budget Analyst.

Mitch received a BA in Government from Georgetown University and a MBA from Rice University.
