Brunswick further strengthens its global Business & Society practice and climate change capabilities.
Brunswick Group, the world’s leading critical issues firm, today announced that Alex Burnett will join as a Partner in London on September 10, with a particular focus on climate.
Alex joins Brunswick after 13 years at Shell, where he designed and oversaw the implementation of Powering Progress, Shell’s first purpose-led company strategy and associated communications plan, designed to accelerate the transition of the business to net-zero.
He held various other senior communications roles at Shell, including leading the Corporate Communications and Reputation Team and advising the Executive Committee on strategy, engagement and communications in response to priority ESG themes. Previously, Alex was Senior Advisor, Communications and Public Affairs at Toyota Europe.
Alex joins Brunswick’s Business & Society practice group, which advises many of the world’s leading organizations on issues related to climate change and other critical societal issues.

About Alex Burnett
Alex joins Brunswick after 13 years at Shell, where he designed and oversaw the implementation of Powering Progress, Shell’s first purpose-led group strategy and associated communications plan, designed to accelerate the transition of the business to net-zero. While at Shell, Alex held various other senior communications roles across the company’s Upstream, Downstream, Integrated Gas and Renewables businesses, and worked closely with the Executive Committee on strategy, engagement and communications in response to climate change and priority ESG themes.
Previously, Alex was Senior Advisor, Communications and Public Affairs at Toyota Europe, where he delivered communications and public affairs campaigns to position Toyota as the environmental leader in the automotive sector. Before that, Alex advised a range of clients as a consultant at communications and public affairs agency Luther Pendragon. Alex began his career as a parliamentary researcher to former UK Prime Minister, David Cameron.
Alex is a Director of The One Foundation, supporting sustainable water and sanitation services in some of the world’s poorest communities. Alex received a B.A. in Social Policy from Durham University and has participated in the Leading Sustainable Corporations Programme at Said Business School, University of Oxford.
