Over 18 months since coming into force, a panel of experts will reflect on the historic Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between the EU and Japan.
As businesses grapple with the current uncertain landscape, what implications and opportunities does the EPA offer for trade in both directions? What might the European Green Deal, the increasing role of ESG and Japan’s own climate commitments mean for future investment? And what effect might Brexit and the UK’s signing of its own comprehensive trade agreement have on the EPA?
The panel will present perspectives from both sides of the original Japan-EU negotiating table, including Bernd Lange, Chairman of the Trade Committee of the European Parliament, Yoichiro Sato, Brunswick Director and former member of the negotiations team for the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Brunswick’s own Chair of European Public Affairs and former Director General of the Task Force on the British referendum on membership of the EU, Sir Jonathan Faull.
The session will be moderated by Brunswick Director Arne Lietz, former Member of European Parliament for Germany.
