Open for Business: The economic case for LGBT+ inclusion

Tuesday, 27th April 2021 | 11:00 - 12:00 CEST

Open For Business announces the launch of its newest report, The Economic Case for LGBT+ Inclusion in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

Join Brunswick Group and Open for Business for a webinar on Tuesday, 27 April 2021 at 11:00 CEST to mark the launch of its newest report, The Economic Case for LGBT+ Inclusion in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE): Hungary, Poland, Romania and Ukraine.

While the report finds that LGBT+ discrimination comes at a high cost to countries in the region, it also shows how embracing inclusion can be a path for greater economic growth.

The report launch will bring together government, business and civil society to discuss the key points of the report and how more can be done collectively to increase LGBT+ inclusion in the CEE region.

Helena Dalli, Commissioner for Equality of the European Commission, will provide a keynote address followed by an exciting panel of speakers, including:

  • Karina Govindji, Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion EMEA & Latin America, Google
  • Evelyne Paradis, Executive Director, ILGA-Europe
  • Tamás Dombos, Board Member, Hatter Society (HU)
  • Marcin Tomaszewski, Principal Economist for Central Europe and the Baltics, EBRD

Open for Business' Executive Director Kathryn Dovey and CEE Programme Lead George Perlov will also give a short presentation on the key findings of their latest report.

The event discussion will focus on tackling important questions around LGBT+ inclusion, including:

  • How can economic arguments be utilised to develop greater political will to support LGBT+ inclusion in the focus countries?
  • How can all businesses, not just multinationals, embrace greater LGBT+ equity and inclusion policies?
  • What can LGBT+ civil society organizations teach businesses and political leaders and vice versa?

The report is generously supported by Google, Equality Without Borders and Brunswick Group.
