New York Arab Art Initiative - promoting cultural connections between the United States and the Arab world

A coalition of artist, foundations, and cultural institutions, the AAEI was a new, year-long program to connect contemporary Arab culture with diverse audiences across New York City.

Brunswick Arts supported this launch with a series of exhibitions, artist dialogues, and educational programs, in collaboration with major cultural institutions including; Asia Society, Brooklyn Museum, Columbia University, Guggenheim Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, Pioneer Works, UNESCO, and others.  The project was guided by a commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, as set forth by the United Nations and world leaders to realize a better world by 2030.

We provided high-level strategy and communications for the launch: developing messaging, serving as the coordinator for the partner institutions, and hosting a well-attended launch event with an exhibition of emerging Arab artists.  Brunswick Arts helped the AAEI and the partners manage the critical issue that arose when news about Jamal Khashoggi prompted front-page media coverage in The New York Times and other outlets about funding from Saudi Arabian sources.  Media outreach in the U.S. and the Gulf has resulted in the strong positive coverage, including The New York Times, The Art Newspaper, Artforum, The National, and Dubai TV.
