Sue Bettman joins Brunswick Group as a Partner

Brunswick adds to its senior advisory bench in Chicago.

January 13, 2023 – Brunswick Group, the world’s leading critical issues advisory firm, today announced that Sue Bettman will join the firm as a Partner in Chicago on January 17, 2023.

Sue brings to Brunswick a wide range of experience in corporate governance, legal and compliance matters, crisis and reputation management and financial situations. She is the former Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of LSC Communications. Before that, she was General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer at RR Donnelley & Sons Company. She started her career and became a Partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP.

At Brunswick, Sue will advise clients across a range of sectors on matters including crisis, litigation, corporate governance, and financial situations.

About Sue Bettman

Sue is the former Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of LSC Communications. There, she oversaw the company’s bankruptcy proceedings and the auction of its business, which led to a successful sale to a private equity firm. She also served as Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer and was responsible for LSC’s communications, human resources, government affairs, insurance, compliance, legal, and environmental, health and safety functions. 

Before that, Sue held various senior positions at RR Donnelley & Sons Company prior to its spin-off of LSC, including as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer. She also chaired the Ethics & Compliance and Whistleblower Committees and was responsible for all Board and governance matters, including outreach to the firm’s largest institutional shareholders. Sue started her career and became a Partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP where she focused on M&A, asset securitizations and other complex transactions.

Sue received a BA in Economics from Northwestern University and her JD from the University of Illinois College of Law. She has served on the boards of numerous civic and charitable institutions and currently serves on the Board of Regents of Mercy Home for Boys & Girls and the Board of Governors of the Northwestern University Library.
