Steve Cooke joins Brunswick Group as a Partner

Brunswick appoints leading international M&A, corporate and investigations expert.

December 4, 2023 – Brunswick Group, the world’s leading critical issues advisory firm, today announced that Steve Cooke will join the firm as a Partner in London on May 1, 2024.

Steve is one of the most highly regarded and experienced Board advisors in the UK. He has worked at Slaughter and May for more than 40 years, most recently as the firm’s Senior Partner since 2016. Steve led Slaughter and May’s Mergers and Acquisitions practice from 2001 to 2016 and also has extensive experience in advising clients in the firm’s Corporate, commercial and investigations practice worldwide.

At Brunswick, Steve will advise clients in the UK and globally on a range of matters including M&A, crisis, disputes and litigation.

About Steve Cooke

Steve has been the Senior Partner of Slaughter and May since 2016. He has been with the firm since 1982, including in its New York office from 1989-90 and has been a partner for 32 years since 1991, heading its Mergers and Acquisitions practice from 2001 to 2016. He has a general corporate and M&A and investigations practice, with particular experience in takeover bids and other Stock Exchange related work.

Steve has acted for a number of listed companies including ARM, Aviva, Barratt Developments, Cadbury, Centrica, Diageo, Hikma Pharmaceuticals, British Airways/International Airlines Group, Reckitt Benckiser, Rolls-Royce, Shire and The Walt Disney Company.

He is the author of “Takeovers” (2006), “The Morning of Our Lives” (2017) and “Journey Without Maps” (2023). He has also composed and performed music for over 60 films and series including “The Queen’s Green Planet”, “Land of Hope and Glory” and “Chosen”.

Steve is a non-executive director of Young & Co’s Brewery Plc and will become Chair of the company in July 2024.
