Simon Pluckrose

With some 25-plus years of experience in journalism and corporate communications, both in the Middle East and the UK, Simon is an experienced storyteller with a deep understanding of media and a natural empathy with audiences.

He joined Brunswick’s Gulf team in 2017 and has since become an integral part of the firm’s Technology, Media and Telecoms (TMT) practice in the Middle East and Africa, as well as working with clients in numerous other sectors, including banking, education, transport & logistics, international development, and tourism and culture.

He has worked with clients across Asia and Africa on a range of critical issues, from crisis response and reputation management to strategy development, stakeholder engagement and financial reporting.

Before joining Brunswick, Simon spent more than 20 years working as a journalist in the UK and the United Arab Emirates, including eight years with the Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT), as well as stints with Newsquest and Johnston Press. His last position was Deputy Editor of the UAE daily newspaper 7DAYS, which was owned by DMGT.

Simon regularly lectures on journalism and communications and has helped develop several journalism training programmes during his career.

He holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Economics and French (Joint Hons) from the University of Southampton in the UK, as well as an NCE in Newspaper Journalism from the National Council for the Training of Journalists.
