Seth brings more than 25 years of experience as a strategic planner and crisis communications advisor to a range of multinational clients, and specializes on China-related issues as co-leader of Brunswick’s China Hub.

His background in global affairs, media coverage and handling sensitive financial situations provide significant insight and perspective on critical issues.

Seth began his career in journalism in Hong Kong and ascended to the role of Shanghai Bureau Chief of the New York Times for five years, on top of journalistic stints in Beijing and New York. A distinguished writer, he won a Pulitzer Prize as part of a team covering breaking news at the New York Times. He is the author of “South of the Clouds: Exploring the Hidden Realms of China,” an acclaimed book about political, economic and social change in China.

As a strategic advisor, Seth has supported clients in media, financial, tech and health care industries. He is a big believer in the power of a compelling narrative and excels at working closely with clients to determine and implement the most effective strategic direction.   

At one point in his career, Seth served as Head of Communications at the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, a mission-driven organization with global reach and distinct challenges in more than 100 countries. Overseeing media relations, digital strategy and conference-planning, Seth implemented a strategy of constant learning, innovation and collaboration across sectors.

Seth served as Board Chair for the Waldorf School of Princeton and has advised numerous boards on sensitive transitions and strategic planning.

He earned a B.A. in European Intellectual History from Wesleyan University and achieved fluency in Chinese in post-graduate studies at Shaanxi and Beijing Normal Universities.
