For the last decade, 2013-2024, Yan has worked in China as Senior Partner and Chair of China. She was also the member of Brunswick’s Global Management Committee. Yan oversaw Brunswick’s China business and provided trusted counsel to leadership teams in both global and Chinese companies.
With over 30 years’ experience in major international companies, Yan is a sought-after strategist and advisor in geopolitics, public affairs, mergers & acquisitions, corporate reputation, and issue and crisis management.
Having lived and worked across multiple continents, Yan channels her global perspective into focused strategies with actionable solutions that account for the critical nuances across different markets, sectors, and audiences.
Before joining Brunswick Group in 2013, Yan held a series of senior management positions at Viacom International Media Networks, News Corporation in China, and Turner International Asia Pacific. Previously, she led a distinguished career in journalism at ITN in the U.K. and CNN in the U.S., winning three Emmy Awards in that time.
Committed to excellence in all areas, Yan served as senior advisor at global investment firm KKR; she sits on the board of French global automotive supplier Forvia, and she is an international council member for the British Council’s Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre. She is also vice-chair on the board of the Golden Bridges Foundation and China Women’s Club.
Yan has a MPhil in Political Science from Columbia University, New York, and a MA in Advanced Russian Area Studies from Hunter College at the City University of New York. She was a distinguished recipient of Columbia Presidential Fellowship and a Junior Fellow of Harriman Institute of School of International and Public Afffairs. She is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Russian.
