Luyanda brings extensive experience at the intersection of business, government and public policy, advising senior executives on public affairs, reputation management, stakeholder engagement, and issues management.

Prior to joining Brunswick, he served as Chief of Staff to South Africa’s Minister of Basic Education, where he led ministerial strategy across communications, policy, intergovernmental relations, parliamentary affairs, and executive operations. In this role, he supported decision-making in complex and politically sensitive environments.

His experience in Parliament — including in the office of the Leader of the Official Opposition — as well as in metropolitan and provincial government, provides him with deep insight into governance frameworks, legislative processes and stakeholder negotiation.

He previously served as spokesperson to a provincial Minister of Health and as Director of Mayoral Communications for a major South African metropolitan municipality, leading communications functions across city government.

Luyanda has also held roles at institutions including C40 Cities and Anglo American, working across corporate affairs and government relations to advise executives on narrative development, stakeholder strategy and reputational risk.
