Luyanda brings experience at the intersection of business, government and public policy and advises senior executives on reputation management, high-stakes communications and stakeholder engagement within complex and highly scrutinised environments in South Africa.

Prior to joining Brunswick, he served as Chief of Staff to South Africa’s Minister of Basic Education, where he led ministerial strategy across communications, policy, parliamentary affairs, intergovernmental relations and executive operations, supporting senior decision-making in complex and politically sensitive contexts.

He has experience across Parliament, including in the office of the Leader of the Official Opposition, as well as in provincial and metropolitan government. He previously served as spokesperson to a provincial Minister of Health and as Director of Mayoral Communications for a major South African metropolitan municipality, where he led communications operations across city government, providing him with deep insight into governance frameworks, legislative processes and stakeholder negotiation.

Luyanda has also held roles at Anglo American and C40 Cities, working across corporate affairs and government relations to support narrative development, stakeholder strategy and the management of reputational risk in regulated sectors.

A Chevening Scholar, he holds a B.Soc.Sci (Legal Theory and Economics), an LL.B and a PGDip (Journalism), all from Rhodes University (South Africa), and an MA in Global Communication and Development from Loughborough University (United Kingdom).
