Kentaro Tanaka
Director
Kentaro has more than 20 years of experience working at the intersection of law, public policy, diplomacy. A qualified lawyer and former prosecutor, he brings deep legal judgment and political acuity to his work as a strategic communications advisor.
Prior to joining Brunswick, Kentaro served as Director of the Global Strategy Office at Japan’s Ministry of Justice, where he advised senior government stakeholders, including the Prime Minister’s Office, on cross-jurisdictional issues. He helped shape public policy to advance Japan’s justice-related agenda and developed communication strategies to manage reputational and legal risk.
Earlier in his career, Kentaro served as both a prosecutor and a diplomat. As a diplomat representing Japan at the United Nations, he negotiated resolutions on corruption, cybercrime, terrorism and human trafficking, and represented Japan in major human rights treaty processes. He also led international affairs efforts, overseeing significant legal initiatives including those related to US-Japan summit meetings and ministerial conferences involving the United Nations and G7.
Kentaro holds a LL.M. in International Law from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and a LL.M. from the University of Virginia School of Law. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tokyo and is a member of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations (JFBA).
