James Baker is a corporate affairs and public affairs specialist with extensive experience advising international companies on reputation, policy, political risk and stakeholder engagement.
Having worked across Brunswick’s London and Washington, DC offices, James brings a transatlantic perspective to reputation and public affairs challenges. He sits across the firm’s Consumer Industries and Global Public Affairs teams and is one of Brunswick’s leading political strategy and election specialists, advising clients on how policy, politics and media shape reputation.
His work spans technology, media, luxury, fashion, retail and other highly scrutinised consumer-facing sectors. He advises clients on corporate communications, issues management, regulatory and political risk, geopolitical developments, and moments of change or scrutiny. James has also supported companies through major financial milestones, including M&A, IPOs and other significant transactions.
Before joining Brunswick in 2018, James worked at a global communications agency and developed deep experience across political campaigning, public affairs and strategic communications. He has been on high-profile campaigns in Westminster and Washington, DC, stood as a candidate in the 2019 UK General Election, and advised senior political figures. Earlier in his career, he trained as a barrister and studied English Literature at the University of Birmingham.
