Chris Dunn
Director
Christopher Dunn MBE is a Director in Brunswick's Shanghai office, where he advises corporate leaders on the regulatory, public affairs, reputational, and geopolitical dimensions of cross-border financial transactions, high-stakes business issues, and crises. His clients are multinational companies with a presence in China and Chinese companies expanding internationally.
Based in China since 2012, Chris brings a deep understanding of the country’s political, economic, and social landscape, shaped by senior roles across government, business, and civil society. He joined Brunswick after serving as a UK government official at the British Embassy in Beijing and Consulate-General in Shanghai from 2015 to 2023, where he worked closely with policymakers, regulators, and business leaders on issues ranging from climate change and energy policy to major trade, investment, and market access deals. From 2013 to 2015, he led research at the Global Environmental Institute, a leading Chinese NGO and think tank, on the environmental and social impacts of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
Chris sits on the Executive Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and, as Policy Adviser, leads the Chamber’s strategic advocacy and government engagement on behalf of 280 member companies.
He was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s 2021 Honours List for services to British foreign policy. Chris holds an EMBA from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and an MSc in Environmental Management for Business from Cranfield University. He is a native English speaker and proficient in Mandarin.
