Cara is a senior sustainability and communications leader with 20 years of experience at the intersection of corporate strategy and reputation management, strategic communications, and sustainability.
A Director in Brunswick’s Sustainable Business practice, Cara advises senior business leaders across a variety of industries on the high-stakes environmental and societal issues facing large corporations. She supports clients in sustainability strategy development, climate transition planning, and corporate positioning – translating complex topics into compelling narratives that inspire action, build trust, mitigate risk and deliver measurable impact.
Formerly the National Senior Director of Corporate Sustainability at BDO USA and a member of the firm’s Sustainability Executive Leadership Team, Cara developed and led the firm’s corporate sustainability strategy and related communications, including the firm’s sustainability disclosure and reporting, brand integration and thought leadership. She frequently speaks at industry events including Sustainable Brands, NYC Climate Week, and others. She previously served as head of BDO’s corporate reputation and crisis management, executive eminence, media relations, brand communications and thought leadership.
Cara earned a B.B.A in Marketing from The University of Iowa and holds a certificate from The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership in Business and Climate Change. She is an International Society of Sustainability Professionals – Sustainability Excellence Associate (ISSP-SEA) and a Certified Sustainability Practitioner from the Center for Sustainability and Excellence.
