As a member of Brunswick’s global Japan practice, Matthew has spent the past decade advising major Japanese corporations across sectors on a range of high-stakes issues from cross-border transactions to crisis, litigation and reputation-building campaigns. He has also supported global organisations to engage successfully with important stakeholders in Japan and around the world.

A fluent Japanese speaker, Matthew brings experience working within Japanese governmental organisations, including at the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s trade promotion agency JETRO, and for local government in the city of Takaoka. 

Matthew is an alumnus of the Japanese international exchange initiative, the JET Programme, and a board member of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce in the UK.
