Brunswick Group appoints nine new Partners

Brunswick Group is delighted to have promoted nine internal colleagues to Partner.

February 28, 2024 – Brunswick Group, the world’s leading critical issues advisory firm, today announced that nine colleagues have been promoted to Partner.

Neal Wolin, Chief Executive Officer, said: “I am delighted to welcome these outstanding colleagues to the partnership. New Partners

Daniel Del Re, Hong Kong

Daniel specializes in financial situations and investor relations. He has advised multinational corporations and pre-IPO firms across a range of industries, as well as financial institutions including investment banks, private equity firms and sovereign wealth funds. A capital markets and transaction expert, Daniel has guided clients through M&A, IPOs, restructurings, spinoffs and privatizations, among others.

In his 20-year career, he has worked as a financial journalist covering capital markets and corporate governance, served as head of communications for a Beijing-based investment bank, and held senior roles at other advisory firms before joining Brunswick.  

Elizabeth Volpe, New York

Elizabeth advises clients on a range of critical business situations, with a focus on complex M&A, shareholder activism and other market-moving announcements. With a background in investment banking, she brings a strong understanding of the investor audience to her work.

While her work spans several sectors, Elizabeth has significant experience with financial institutions and insurance clients, in particular. She has worked on numerous transactions and proxy fights at Brunswick and her clients have included many of the largest Fortune 500 companies in financial services, as well as across consumer, industrials, healthcare and tech.

Prior to joining Brunswick, Elizabeth was an investment banker in UBS’ Financial Institutions Group, where she advised global life and P&C insurance clients on M&A, shareholder activism and equity and debt offerings.

Jack Emery, London

Jack joined Brunswick in 2019 and specializes in regulation and public policy. He works with a range of clients across different sectors as they navigate the political and policy landscape on standalone issues or as part of integrated reputation and communications mandates.

He draws on his experience as a policymaker in the UK government, including over 10 years as a civil servant at HM Treasury, the UK’s finance and economy ministry. During that time, he advised ministers on business engagement, financial services, tax, international economics and fiscal policy.

At Brunswick, he has worked with a wide range of financial institutions as well as energy, retail, technology and industrial companies, helping his clients to communicate effectively on policy issues.

Jordan Bickerton, New York

Jordan serves in Brunswick’s ESG and Sustainable Business practice and leads the firm’s New York work.

He advises multinationals’ leadership teams on sustainable business strategy, engagement and crisis. He has worked with clients across sectors in the US and the UK on issues from climate to economic mobility, and on programs that spark transformation and create financial and social value.

Jordan has focused his whole career on working with corporates to navigate their role in society. He joined Brunswick’s London office in 2015 from Fishburn, where he helped establish the Sustainability team.

Kate Shouesmith MBE, London

Kate co-leads Brunswick’s Strategy & Planning team in London, using her experience in strategic communications and political campaigns to develop long-term responses to critical issues for global organizations.

Prior to joining Brunswick, Kate was deputy head of public affairs at Weber Shandwick following a career in politics as a special adviser to David and Samantha Cameron. She worked on political operations for three referenda and two general elections, helping to establish Downing Street’s external relations team where she was responsible for business engagement.

Kate was awarded an MBE for public and political service in 2016.

Oscar Karlsson, Stockholm

Across the Nordics, Oscar counsels clients on critical issues, leveraging his deep expertise in capital markets, crisis management and stakeholder engagement. Since joining the firm's Stockholm office in 2011, he has been instrumental in numerous high-profile transactions and mandates within the region and internationally.

Oscar’s expertise in managing critical stakeholders and complex situations, especially within the financial services sector, has played a key role in reinforcing Brunswick's reputation as a leading advisor in the region.

Sarah Purbrick, London

Sarah oversees Brunswick’s Operations in Continental Europe. She works closely with the regional leadership team to communicate and drive the firm’s global strategy in the region. Sarah leads on translating the strategic direction into deliverable operational plans, including business transformation initiatives across the firm’s clients, operations and culture. Previously, Sarah was Brunswick’s Head of Business Intelligence, establishing and growing the function over her first eight years with the firm.

Prior to joining Brunswick, Sarah held key Business Partnering and Commercial roles at several international law firms, including King & Wood Mallesons, Allen & Overy and Lawrence Graham.

Suntka von Halen, Munich

Suntka specializes in crisis and cybersecurity, restructuring, change communications and corporate positioning.

She advises board members and executives of global corporates on strategic issues in critical situations and helps them manage matters related to risk and resilience. Suntka is a senior member of Brunswick's global cybersecurity team and supports clients around the world and across sectors to prepare for and respond to cyber incidents and crises.

Prior to joining Brunswick in 2016, Suntka worked in the media industry for more than 10 years. She held several communications roles within Bertelsmann Group, among others as corporate spokesperson.

Tom Maginnis, New York

Tom specializes in advising clients on litigation and crisis related matters.

He has worked with clients facing civil and criminal investigations, products liability lawsuits, and intellectual property challenges as well as a variety of other matters critical to their reputations, including Congressional hearings and leadership transitions.

Throughout his career, he has also developed expertise in the healthcare industry, advising clients in the pharmaceutical, medical device and distribution sectors across a range of issues.

Prior to joining Brunswick, he worked at APCO Worldwide and Burson-Marsteller in issues and crisis communications. Tom has lived, worked and studied in the UK, Spain and Switzerland.
