Mike was previously Senior Director for Government Affairs for Gilead Sciences based in Hong Kong. Mike led government engagement on behalf of Gilead in Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan, covering various therapeutic areas including hepatitis, HIV, and COVID-19.
A career member of the U.S. Foreign Service for almost 17 years, he was most recently a Senior Advisor in the Bureau for Economic and Business Affairs at the U.S. Department of State before joining Gilead. Prior to that he was seconded to the Office of U.S. Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia, where he advised the Senator, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees, on a wide range of foreign policy issues. Mike also served as Deputy Executive Secretary at the National Security Council (NSC) at the White House, where he helped ensure President Barack Obama received the highest quality policy materials on issues of national security, homeland security, and foreign affairs.
