Prior to joining Brunswick, Michael was Head of Global Corporate Communications and Public Affairs for China-based Hikvision, the world’s largest surveillance technology company. For the company, he led government relations, coalition development, and media outreach campaigns on a range of issues, including: national security, data privacy, cybersecurity and human rights. His time at Hikvision coincided with rapidly deteriorating U.S/China relations.
From 2013-2016, he served as Director of Public Relations for Los Angeles-based Herbalife, a major publicly traded direct-selling company. Michael implemented the company’s successful multi-pronged public response to an unprecedented $1B shareholder activist attack against the company’s stock and all related federal/state investigations of the company.
Michael began his in-house corporate career at Dallas-based TXU Energy, Texas’ largest electric utility. He served as company spokesperson on various consumer-oriented initiatives, including energy efficiency consumer awareness campaigns, rapid media response to widespread seasonal outages, and renewable energy.
Michael received his Bachelor’s degree in Communications from San Diego State University. He is also an Accredited Public Relations (APR) practitioner by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
