A seasoned an on-the-record spokesperson and confidential communications advisor at the highest levels of government and politics, Marti has extensive experience designing and executing strategic communications campaigns in the toughest media, political, business, and regulatory environments.
Marti joined Brunswick from the Office of New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, where she served as First Deputy Press Secretary, and later as Deputy Communications Director to the Mayor from 2014-2017. At City Hall, she counseled the Mayor, deputy mayors, and key City agencies on communications and media engagement strategies for major announcements and policy rollouts, and the City’s response to large-scale public safety and public health emergencies. Prior to City Hall, Marti served in various communications roles for President Barack Obama on both of his presidential campaigns and at the U.S. Treasury Department, where she was the spokesperson for the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (TFI) from 2009-2012. In that role, Marti was the top communications advisor to the Under Secretary for TFI, and the principal spokesperson for the U.S. Treasury and the U.S. Government on matters related to financial sanctions, illicit finance and anti-money laundering policy, regulatory and enforcement actions.
Marti is a proud graduate of Spelman College where she earned her B.A. in U.S. and African American History and minored in French.
