Mark Patterson

Mark A. Patterson is a Senior Advisor at Brunswick who serves the firm’s clients on a range of issues across industries. Mark is a lawyer and former senior government official with expertise in fiscal, tax, legal, financial services and other subjects.

Before joining Brunswick in 2022, Mark was the general counsel to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer. His previous government experience includes service as Chief of Staff of the Department of the Treasury under Secretaries Timothy F. Geithner and Jacob J. Lew. Mark is the longest-serving chief of staff in Treasury history, and is a recipient of the Alexander Hamilton
Award, the Department’s highest honor.

Earlier in his career, Mark served as Policy Director to Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle; as Democratic Staff Director and Chief Counsel of the Senate Finance Committee; and as Legislative Director to Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Mark also has previous private sector experience as a partner in the law firm Perkins Coie LLP, and as a Managing Director at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he was co-head of U.S. government relations.
