1. What qualifications are expected of Brunswick Group consultant staff?

While there are no specific qualifications required, we look for outstanding individuals and high achievers in their chosen field. We have a broad mixture of academic backgrounds and interests within the organization. We do, however, look for impeccable language skills. Applicants need be able to speak and write fluently in English as this is the working language of the firm internationally.

2. What skills is Brunswick Group looking for?

We are looking for individuals with quick, enquiring minds and an ability to think analytically and creatively. You should be interested in business and current affairs and have a natural flair for how these work together. You should be interested in communications and business and how companies tackle the problems they face and have good interpersonal skills. This industry moves very quickly so if you are a ‘quick study’ and can work fast, this will be an advantage. Very importantly, we are looking for team players who thrive on working and learning together and helping each other out.

3. What is the recruiting process like?

We have a multi-stage recruitment process which will vary slightly according to whether the position is at entry level or more senior.

For junior entry-level positions, we will consider the following: energy, enthusiasm, drive and discipline, some relevant experience, international experience, internships, extracurricular activities and things of this nature. From the pool of written applications, we will invite candidates to an initial round of interviews and a written test, and if these are successful, to further rounds with Brunswick team members.

At senior levels, candidates are invited to come in for several interviews. We want you to get to know Brunswick and in so doing, we will come to understand you and your skills better.

Recruitment is taken very seriously at Brunswick and we operate on a basis of consensus hiring. After each round of interviews, we collate feedback from the interviewing team and we take a decision as to whether to recommend the candidate based on the consensus view.

Application Process

1. Where should I send my application to?

Please send your electronic application to careers@brunswickgroup.com. Applications should be written either in English or in the official language of the office you are applying for. Please send a detailed resume together with a covering letter outlining your reasons for your interest in joining Brunswick.

We accept applications all year round.

Brunswick as an Employee

1. What is the work environment like?

We are very committed and want to make a difference. You will be surrounded by many highly motivated, highly-qualified people with many interests and very diverse backgrounds. We like to treat people as individuals and also as adults. We expect people to be self-starters and able to prioritise their time and organise their workload. We work in teams and expect people to work together. We work hard and ask people to go the "extra mile" on behalf of our clients. That said, we also have a lot of fun.

2. Internships

Brunswick Group offers exciting full time internships in each of the offices of the Group. They vary in length depending on the market in which you apply. Certain offices have specific relationships with universities with strong communications, journalism or management programmes. We run a larger number of internships during the spring, summer and fall semesters. We want to give you the opportunity to really get to know the people at Brunswick Group during that time and to get an in-depth look at what consulting work is like, while simultaneously demonstrating your performance as a consultant to us.

In France and Germany, if you want to apply you must be a full time student and the internship will last for between three and six months.

3. Is there an opportunity to complete an internship abroad?

In principle yes, but internships are over-subscribed in each of our offices and we will generally priroritise home market applicants. For you to be considered, you must first satisfy absolute fluency in the language and written tests as well as go through the required interview process. Please address your electronic application to careers@brunswickgroup.com.

4. How international are the projects?

Unlike other firms in our sector, Brunswick operates as a “one-firm firm”, that is to say that we behave as a single firm across all our offices. We aim to provide the same level of advice and execution wherever our clients need it around the world. Each of our offices builds its own local franchise around their local financial markets and the companies located there, but as businesses become more global, we are often asked to provide integrated global solutions. In these instances our international offices work together seamlessly as a joint team and we would resource the project with the right individuals, based on the client’s requirements and the skills needed to deliver the solution.

5. Is it possible to work abroad for an extended period?

Brunswick encourages and supports inter-office exchange and collaboration. Once members of staff have established themselves as high achievers in their local office, they may apply for a secondment to one of the other offices. These secondments are usually for a period of two years unless there is a special request.
