Akiko Karaki joins Brunswick Group as a Partner in Tokyo

Brunswick further strengthens its strategic advisory capabilities in Japan.

October 3, 2023 - Brunswick Group, the world’s leading critical issues advisory firm, today announced that Akiko Karaki has joined the firm as a Partner in Tokyo.

Akiko brings more than two decades of strategic advisory experience across a range of sectors and practice areas. Most recently, she was a Partner at PwC’s Strategy&, where she advised consumer-facing companies, financial institutions and healthcare and life sciences clients on corporate strategy and sustainability-related matters. Prior to that, Akiko held senior roles at McKinsey & Company, J.P. Morgan and Credit Agricole.

At Brunswick, Akiko will strengthen the firm’s strategic advisory capabilities in Japan, advising Japanese companies globally and international clients with operations in Japan on their most critical financial, regulatory and political and social issues. Brunswick has advised clients in Japan for more than a decade and, since opening the Tokyo Office in 2020, the team on the ground has grown meaningfully in size and capability.

About Akiko Karaki

Akiko is a seasoned strategic advisor with extensive experience in professional services. For almost two decades, she has advised companies across a range of sectors on their most pressing issues. She joins Brunswick after a 15-year career at PwC’s Strategy&, formerly Booz & Company, where she was a Partner and on the Oversight Boards of PwC Japan and other PwC APAC entities. Prior to this, Akiko served in senior roles at McKinsey & Company. A trained lawyer, she also held senior Legal and Compliance roles with J.P. Morgan and Credit Agricole.

Akiko received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tokyo and a Master of Laws from Columbia Law School.
